Holiday Dance Party, December 12, 2009 |
Imagine a place with adults dancing, teenagers babysitting, children laughing, and Santa Claus speaking Chinese. On December 12, 2009, Chinese Language School of Greater Hartford (CLS) invited students and their family members and friends to the Holiday Dance Party at the South Windsor Community Center. You're never too old or too young to dance, at least that's what Mr. John Wei believes. Mr. Wei was the organizer of the Holiday Dance Party, an event that was designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages and from all walks of life. CLS also invited alumni to baby-sit children under age 12 so that the parents could enjoy dancing. "Dancing: I love to dance," said Mrs. Chen, who dances every chance she gets. "There's just something; it makes you happy, makes you feel good," added Mr. Lee. Santa Claus sneaked through the dancing crowd to join the children for their own party. “Were you good?” he asked. If you were, Santa gave a gift to you. The event was filled with delicious snacks, fantastic crafts, exciting movies, joyful games, and wonderful music. There was a lot more than dancing! The CLS Holiday Dance Party was an absolutely enchanting event for people who love dancing and having fun. Six-year-old Joyce Fang said that this event was the best thing that has happened at CLS and that it has helped her to love the Chinese language and culture much more. As the children were being picked up and the disco light was being turned off, Emy Lin, one of the babysitters said, “It ended too soon. But I will always remember what I learned from my mother, that you can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart.” |
